Challanges

I love challenges. You know the sort of thing: run 500 miles in 2009, read 100 books, cycle to work at least 3 times per week. I love them.
Until I watched Julie & Julia about this weirdo cooking all recipes of Julia whatever (famous cookbook author) in one year and I suddenly thought: this is so self-important. And pathetic. And I just thought what am I doing? Why do I love those silly challenges? Do they make your life feel more in control? I don't know. I certainly think that they totally allow you to forget everything around you that is important. 500 miles per year that means no books, no opera, no cycling?
I don't know. On the other hand they are fun! It is FUN to feel self-important. It is fun to be on a mission. It is fun to feel that you are the main character in some reality TV show about the girl trying every Kamasutra position in one year.
YAY! Go for the challenge!

a normal day

Hi,
this is such a normal day. How weird I should start a blog! I suppose I tell you guys what this is meant to be: it is meant to be a blog about things I enjoy. I love reading other peoples blogs about their passions and interests to get inspired and try things out.
What do I love right now?

I love the book Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides! I cannot put it away. It is romantic and sad and witty and everything I want from a good novel.

I am also crazily looking forward to Lebkuchen being sold in Germany again, so I can get some. I love them, they are definitely the best thing about this season.

And I totally love the Italian way of life. I have just come back form Rome and had fabulous pasta and wine and nice weather and I just feel that life is there to be enjoyed.
Hence the blog.
